I read this, and that is really cheap. What makes me wonder, why is the healthcare so expensive in US? For the coverage I have, if I was paying it myself it would cost me 400-600/month. That is crazy.

I came across your website (and also Brian and Chrystal’s). I was born inUruguay (American father and Uruguayn mother), grew up in Venezuela, and Argentina and have lived in the States since 1966. I plan to retire there. I go back every year in February to visit cousins and also because, living in New Jesrsy and working in New York City, it is the anti-NYC. I’ve read your stories and I’ve become more eager to go Uruguay. In the past, I’ve taken friends with me (we always go to Punta) and all have come back raving about Uruguay. I’d like to contact you; are you still in Argentina?

Ours in Virginia has been long, cold, and now wet. We’re past ready for a green and pleasant spring. We are also considering how to reset our lives so we could take our winters somewhere warm.

Hi, I know your are not living in Montevideo right now, and I hope you find Bariloche a great place to live. I’ve been there for vacations and I still find Nahuel Huapi the most beautiful scenaries ever!!!
I came across your blog just recently, and I am reading it from march 2009 when you first move. My family moved to Montevideo last October and we also have 2 dogs, so I kindly ask you for the name of the boarding house that had your dogs for a month. We are planning a trip and I would like to send them to a place with a reference.

I’m planning a trip to Uruguay in January and am looking for some advice from expats living there. We’d like to spend a couple nights in one of the beach towns on the coast and aren’t sure how to go about finding the right town or a place to rent. Any suggestions you have of a town or travel agent or contact would be great! Thanks!

Hi Lisa, I agree with the other commentors. I witnessed the same exaggerated pruning in Argentina and Brazil and the miracle does occur. Maybe all the rain has something to do with rapid growth.
